Putin called the lack of measles vaccines in Russia a technical failure

The shortage of vaccines against measles, rubella and mumps in Russia is caused by a technical failure due to the fact that chicken eggs are used as a raw material for the production of these drugs, Vladimir Putin said during the year’s results.

“There is also a technical failure here. It is regrettable. Oddly enough, it is connected with the egg, because the raw material for the production of measles vaccines is a chicken egg. It is necessary that it be in sufficient quantity and of the quality required for the production of medical products,” – Putin explained.

The President emphasized that all decisions on this issue have already been made. Putin noted that there will be no problem with the vaccine in the near future.

“Hope – that’s what our specialists told me and tell me – “all this will be solved” – the president noted.

The head of state noted that a surge in measles incidence occurs throughout the world once every four years. The increase in incidence is associated with the situation in the countries from which labor migrants come, as well as with Ukraine, where immunization is at a very low level.

Earlier, Putin named the reasons for rising prices for eggs and chicken in Russia. The President promised that the situation with prices for these products will be corrected in the near future.

Note that in 2023, a decision was made to combine the formats of Vladimir Putin’s direct line and his annual press conference. Reception of questions from citizens started on December 1. Russians had the opportunity to send their appeals by phone or through the website Moscow-Putin.rfas well as through social media chatbots and the application.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, reported that he himself would traditionally be the moderator of the press conference, and in the direct line part, TV presenters Ekaterina Berezovskaya and Pavel Zarubin would voice questions from citizens.

According to Peskov, Russians most often raise issues of transport infrastructure, social security, and medicine. This time will be no exception. Also, one of the important topics at the end of the year with Vladimir Putin will be the topic of a special military operation.

The Kremlin representative noted that the Russian leader always approaches the straight line very responsibly, carefully preparing for it, often sacrificing sleep.

“He is very attentive to preparation; he spent ten hours analyzing blocks of topics of citizens’ questions.”Peskov added.

On December 13, a day before the start of summing up the results of the year, the Russian president held a detailed meeting in preparation for the direct line.
