While the economy is in a slump, recruiting for Web3-related personnel is brisk.

While the tech industry is undergoing massive layoffs, job seekers still have hopes for Web3.

Shortly after cryptocurrency firm Coinbase froze hiring and laid off 18% of its workforce, rival Binance announced it would hire 2,000 new workers. And Web3.Careers, a career site related to Web3, now has more than 23,000 job openings, up from less than 10,000 in early 2022.

As the topic of the decentralized internet sweeps Silicon Valley, talented people from all disciplines—engineering, product, marketing—are venturing into this supposedly lucrative world.

“It takes more than technical skills to push the boundaries of technology with Web3,” said Dillon Rosenblatt, CEO and co-founder of sports and entertainment NFT platform Autograph. Dillon Rosenblatt) tells Insider.

According to Rosenblatt, the founders of the Web3 companies aren’t just looking for programmers, they’re looking for people with the ambition to revolutionize how we use the Internet.

Insider asked six Web3 startup founders what skills they valued in applicants’ resumes and interviews. Here are five skills founders are looking for when hiring employees in the growing and competitive Web3 industry.

1. Have an entrepreneurial spirit

“We are looking for employees who like to build and act like owners,” said Unstoppable Domains, a company that offers decentralized websites and blockchain-based domain names. Domains co-founder Brad Kad said.
