“I’m looking forward to it”: Biden wants to hear from Zelensky personally about the situation at the front – White House

The politicians’ meeting will come at a “critically important” time, according to administration spokesman John Kirby, as the Ukrainian Armed Forces make progress in their counteroffensive and the Russian Federation turns to rogue states for aid.

US President Joe Biden is looking forward to meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky to personally learn about the progress of the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was stated by White House spokesman and US National Security Council coordinator John Kirby.

According to him, Biden is interested in Zelensky’s assessment of what is happening on the battlefield in Ukraine.

Additionally, as Kirby noted, the US President wants to reassure the Ukrainian leader that the US will continue to support Ukraine. And Ukrainians should not doubt this.

A White House spokesman said the meeting of policymakers would come at a “critical” time. According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to achieve success in the counter-offensive. Russia now needs to turn to other exile countries for help. The international community has come together to support Ukraine.

Kirby noted that Zelensky also plans to visit the US Congress during his visit to Washington.

“It is important that members of Congress hear directly from President Zelensky everything that President Biden will hear from him,” the American official said.

He also noted that Zelensky has constantly publicly and privately expressed gratitude to the States for their support to Ukraine and its Armed Forces.

Let’s remember that Zelensky came to New York “with an open offer.” According to the head of state, the main principle to be discussed is the territorial integrity of the country. The UN needs to have the tools to stop and prevent aggression.
