According to diplomat Sergei Aleinik, Minsk supported and maintains peace in the neighboring country, but at the same time, responsibility for the “failure” of peace negotiations in 2022 has been shifted to Kiev.
Belarus rejects the scenario that its troops will go to war against Ukraine together with the Russian Federation. Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik stated this in an interview with the Associated Press on September 26.
According to him, Minsk will not fight together with the Russian invaders against the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the battlefield. When journalists asked him a similar question, his answer was clear:
“My answer is no”.
Separately, speaking about Ukrainians who do not want and do not need a “war of attrition”, Sergei Aleynik claimed that Belarus supports and will maintain peace in the neighboring country. At the same time, Kiev and “other parties indirectly involved” were blamed for the failure of the attempted peace talks in March 2022.
The State Department also decided to ignore all known facts about the direct role of Belarus in the beginning of the largest armed conflict in Europe since 1945. In particular, we are talking about the fact that the attempt to occupy Kiev and the Kiev region began from the Belarusian territory into which the Russian occupation forces entered.
In addition, wounded soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces were treated in their country, and training grounds and infrastructure were provided for the training of the mobilized.
Let us recall that Belarusian politician Alexander Lukashenko said on September 22 that Poland was putting pressure on Ukraine because the United States was forcing Ukraine to “unite” Kiev. At the same time, according to him, Minsk will defend itself against Western countries – spending money on drones.
