“I received a letter”: Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Kornienko explained why Poroshenko was not released abroad (video)

First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Alexander Kornienko reported that he received a letter about the trip abroad of the fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko. After that, he decided to cancel the permission previously signed by the Rada chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk. The deputy speaker talked about the situation with Poroshenko’s departure during the broadcast of the all-Ukrainian telethon.

Kornienko said the head of the parliamentary European Solidarity party cited attending an extra-parliamentary event as the reason for leaving. In particular, I had to attend the forum of the International Democratic Union. “High-level” meetings also had to be held.

“Participation in party events is allowed according to our internal documents and internal principles,” the vice president emphasized.

However, he noted that he later had to give an order to cancel the exit permit. Reason – “receipt of the letter” [с грифом — ред.] “For official use (chipboard).” After learning the content of the letter, he annulled the decision previously made by Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk.

Korniychuk did not talk about the content of his letter to DSP. As a result, he confirmed that the Rada continues to organize business trips for representatives of groups and factions in parliament, including European Solidarity.

There has been no reaction yet from Rada Spokesperson Ruslan Stefanchuk’s Facebook page to the actions of Kornienko, who canceled the document he signed. The last post mentions the anniversary of the referendum in which Ukrainians voted for independence.

Travel abroad – details of the situation with Poroshenko

It should be noted that on December 1, Petro Poroshenko announced that he could not go abroad on a business trip, even though he had the appropriate permit signed by Stefanchuk. At the border, employees of the State Border Guard Service stopped him and stated that this permit was canceled.

Later, a screenshot of the document to which the border guards referred was published by European Solidarity Party deputy Alexey Goncharenko. The text indicates that it was published on November 29, two days before the incident at the border.

The media wrote about the border crossing incidents that happened to Poroshenko from time to time in the spring of 2023. In particular, he was released from Ukraine only on the third attempt – the politician was heading towards the top of the European People’s Party. A similar situation occurred before the Russian invasion: in January 2022, he was not allowed to enter Brussels.

We would like to remind you that on November 30, a document appeared in which groups and factions in the parliament agreed that the next Rada elections should be held after the war. Meanwhile, one of the Ukrainian experts suggested that these elections, unlike the presidential elections, could be held in 2024.
