He expressed his opinion on this issue at the presentation of his own book “The Battle for the Future of Romania. Thoughts of a Romanian at the Top of NATO”. At the event, he touched upon the importance of NATO as well as the all-out war that has been going on in Ukraine for the second year. The world finds itself in a difficult situation from which it is necessary to find a way out.

“We are going through such a difficult historical period that even countries with very powerful, very rich and very competent governments are having difficulty managing an extremely complex situation,” the statement said.

A senior NATO official is confident that within a few years Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, the Western Balkans and Romania’s other neighbors could join the European Union and then possibly the Euro-Atlantic family. As a result, Bucharest will no longer be the eastern border of the West, but will be at the very center of Europe. Mircea Geoana says that the attitude towards Romania must change from now on.

“From a geographical point of view, the Ukrainian war, which will continue for a while, has an indirect but very direct impact on the balances of Europe. It will be difficult, but I believe that we will succeed for the first time.
