“This is nonsense”: Ukraine still has not canceled the agreement on the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea (video)

People’s Deputy Vladimir Aryev announced that there were sufficient “official grounds” to cancel the approval, but the issue was “stuck” in court. Moreover, according to him, the defenders of these agreements have already emerged.

In 2010, the so-called “Kharkov agreements” were signed on the conditions for the presence of the Russian Black Sea Fleet on Ukrainian territory. These agreements regarding enemy ships in the soon-to-be-occupied Crimea have not yet been canceled. People’s Deputy Vladimir Ariev talked about this on December 11 on the Espreso TV channel.

The parliamentarian said that the Constitutional Court had ordered the cancellation of the “Kharkov agreements”. He proposed to divide this issue into two components: political and legal.

“From the point of view of the political component, what could actually be the issue of basing the Black Sea Fleet and the obligations assumed by Ukraine is nonsense. Many agreements with the Russian Federation were condemned precisely during this period in the Verkhovna Rada,” Aryev noted.

However, according to him, the cancellation of the agreement on the Russian fleet was “stuck” in court. The MP emphasized that the Constitutional Court’s decision must be “final and final”.

“The question of what decision the Constitutional Court will give here still remains,” Ariev said.

Opinions on this issue are divided, he said. There are even those who defend the agreement regarding the enemy Black Sea Fleet, especially in Crimea.

“As a participant in these events, I can say that absolutely everything was violated,” the parliamentarian recalled.

According to him, there was a lack of votes to even register the proposal. Moreover, voting collectively rather than personally is against the Constitutional norms.

“So, the official grounds are sufficient for the Constitutional Court to decide to cancel the approval,” Arev assured.

Let us remind you that on April 14, it was learned that the Constitutional Court would review the legality of the “Kharkov Agreements”. 49 Ukrainian MPs spoke in favor of it. As mentioned FocusFormer President Viktor Yanukovych agreed to extend the stay of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea by 25 years in exchange for gas discounts.

A lawsuit has already been initiated in Ukraine due to the signing of the “Kharkov agreements”. On September 15, it was learned that former President Viktor Yanukovych and the head of government Mykola Azarov would be tried for this reason.
