Don’t be fooled: Trump calls on US to stop unconditional aid to Ukraine

The former president of the USA emphasized that the USA should not give money to any country indefinitely, without interest, without any hope of return.

Former US President Donald Trump said on February 10 that the US should stop providing foreign aid in the form of transfers of funds, including to Ukraine, unless it is in the form of a loan. That’s why Americans should no longer “make fools of themselves,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social social network.

The former head of the White House believes that funds can be borrowed only on extremely favorable terms, for example, “without interest and for an unlimited period.” Trump’s comments came after he launched attacks on the bipartisan agreement on the border and the $118 billion foreign aid package that Senate Republicans blocked on Feb. 7.

Trump said, “We should never give money away without any hope of return or any ‘reservations.’ The United States must no longer make a fool of itself!” he wrote.

CNN observers believe the new foreign aid package, which the Senate is scheduled to begin procedural voting on Sunday, February 11, will also ultimately be derailed. Moreover, speaking to voters in South Carolina, Trump noted that a bipartisan agreement on the border and a $118 billion foreign aid package had failed.

“This week we won another major victory that every conservative should celebrate: we defeated the disastrous open borders bill written by the crook Joe Biden. We defeated him,” America’s former president said.

Fate of the bill

CNN journalists also state that the new bill will not face obstacles solely due to Trump’s attitude. That’s why Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, who has long opposed foreign aid, may slow down the approval process. And unless all 100 senators agree to expedite the process and quickly pass the bill, the final vote will be next week.

“If it takes a week or a month, I’ll have them stay here to discuss why they view the Ukrainian border as more important than the U.S. border,” Paul said.

Let us remind you that US President Joe Biden, in his speech to Congress on February 6, accused Donald Trump of having problems in providing aid to Ukraine. He stated that he could not agree on reforming the US immigration system due to Trump’s attitude.
