According to presidential administration spokesman John Kirby, Ukraine will not be able to defend the liberated territories and will be forced to abandon them due to lack of funding. Avdiivka was literally lost due to lack of ammunition.
US National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said Ukraine was in an extremely desperate situation on the front line. The press conference held with the participation of White House Spokesperson Christine Jean was broadcast on the YouTube channel.
According to him, Ukrainian soldiers have to make a choice about who and what to shoot at.
“They’re running out of ammunition… So the situation is very dire,” Kirby said in a briefing with reporters on Tuesday, February 27.
Noting that he could not give a time frame yet, he said, “You know, they will lose the war on such and such a day, but now they have started to lose the lands they took back from the Russians.”
Now, when Ukraine cannot defend the liberated regions, it is forced to abandon these regions due to lack of financing.
“We need this now. I’m not even going to speculate on when it might be too late. In a way, we’re already too late. They literally lost Avdiivka to munitions. So that’s already had a significant impact on the progression of the wars,” Kirby noted.
What will happen in a month or two?
Answering a question from journalists, he said that the Russians began to capture new cities and villages.
“Not to mention Avdeevka, where are they? [ВС РФ] “They will create a strategic center, they have gained momentum,” he said.
“The situation is already hopeless. I cannot predict what will happen in a month or two because you cannot predict what the Russians will do. But certainly, if they do not get support, it is very likely that the Russians will do this.” Kirby added that he would gain more territory and achieve more success on the front lines “Mostly in the east, but potentially even in the south.”
Such comments followed a meeting between White House representatives and Senate leaders on funding for Ukraine and protecting the US border.
aid to Ukraine
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries described the meeting as productive. Both described talks on Ukraine as “intense.”
Schumer reminded Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s warning that Ukraine could fall if there is no timely help.
Let’s remember what prevents Kiev from receiving military aid from Washington.
It was also reported that Biden called on Congress to urgently provide aid to Ukraine.
