Transnistria appealed to Russia for help: details

MPs of the unrecognized republic accused Chisinau of “economic pressure”. It is still unknown how the Russian Federation should assist the Pridnestrovian Republic of Moldavia.

Unrecognized Transnistria appealed to the Russian Federation for assistance regarding the “economic blockade” of Moldova. The relevant declaration was adopted at the “deputies” congress held in Tiraspol on Wednesday, February 28. TSV Transnistria reports this.

“More than 220 thousand Russian citizens permanently reside in Transnistria and it was decided to appeal to the Federation Council and the Russian State Duma with a request to implement measures to protect Transnistria in the face of increasing pressure from Moldova. It was stated in the statement that Russia’s unique positive experience in maintaining peace in the Dniester, as well as its status as a guarantor and mediator of the negotiation process, was taken into account.

Additionally, the “deputies” appeal to the UN Secretary-General with a request to take into account the “inalienable rights of the Pridnestrovian people guaranteed by international norms” in order to stop Moldova from violating the rights and freedoms of Pridnestrovian citizens and prevent provocations. “It causes tension to rise.”

At the OSCE, delegates demand to “influence the Moldovan leadership to return to adequate dialogue within the framework of the international negotiation process.”

“MPs” of the unrecognized Pridnestrovian Republic of Moldavia are making similar appeals to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the European Parliament. Calls will also be made to the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and participants in the “5+2” format (a diplomatic platform aimed at resolving the Transnistria conflict, consisting of representatives of Moldova and Transnistria, Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE). European Union and the United States).

Let us remind you that the unrecognized Transnistrian authorities insist on dealing a “catastrophic” blow to Moldova’s economy in Transnistria. We are talking about the claim that a business in Transnistria loses $ 33 million a year due to customs duties and the banking blockade in Chisinau.

Previously, dissident and activist Gennady Chorba said that they could return to Russia at the congress to be held in Tiraspol on February 28, demanding “Transnistria be accepted into the Russian Federation”.
