According to the Hungarian leader, Trump said that if he wins the presidential election, he will not fund either Ukraine or European security.
Former US President Donald Trump promised that he would not give money to Ukraine if he returned to the White House in November 2024. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated this in an interview with the M1 channel.
During the dialogue, the Hungarian leader talked about his trip to the USA, where he met with presidential candidate Donald Trump. While Orban signaled that he was determined to achieve peace in the Russia-Ukraine war, he also drew attention to the former American leader’s so-called peace-making stance.
The Hungarian politician added that although Trump is not currently the President of the United States, his Republican party is blocking funds from Ukraine. However, if Trump wins the election in the future, he will not give “even a penny” to Kiev and then the war will end.
“If America does not give money, Europeans alone will not be able to finance this war and then the war will end,” the head of the Hungarian government emphasized.
According to him, Trump also commented on the situation regarding European security. Namely, the former American president said that it was time to rearm and that every country should have its own equipment and army to protect itself. That’s why Trump doesn’t want the US to fund European security instead of the Europeans himself.
Let us recall that on February 29, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called for the start of peace talks to end the war in Ukraine. According to the Hungarian leader, time is working in Moscow’s favor, so the dialogue should start as soon as possible.
