Gerardo Martino very close to completion managed the Mexican national team for four years. Throughout the process, Tata has tested a large number of players in more than 60 matches with El Tri. But curiously, some of his works were naturalized footballers, a tool that the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) has been using for the past two years.
According to a FIFA report compiled by ESPNthe Mexican company was located in fifth place as the federation that naturalized the most football players in the last year. In this line, El Tri surpassed only Morocco (11), Kosovo and Russia (7) and Turkey (6).
The report lists the names Rogelio Funes Mori, David Ochoa, Julian Araujo, Karina Rodriguez and Anika Rodriguez. The common factor for these players is that they have represented other countries in the youth divisions or even the majors, so cases like the one with Santiago Jiménez, player born in Argentina.
Others naturalized at the door of Mexico
This practice has become common in the Mexican Football Federation. While there are several names that they may also be eligible in the future soccer players who claimed to be able to wear Mexican colors despite not being born in Aztec lands, such is the case with Nicolas Ibanez, Julio Ferch, Brandon Vazquez, Matheus Doria among others.
