The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially released controversial pitcher Trevor Bauer. and they also opted to cancel the $22.5 million corresponding to 2023 before continuing to keep the player on their roster. The information was confirmed on the team’s social media, which also indicated that the pitcher would be sent on a mission to finally be released.
It’s important to note that the Dodgers have seven days for someone to claim it. If that time passes, any team will have a chance to sign him as a free agent for at least $720,000.
It should be noted that the decision came two weeks after winner Cy Young’s sanction was reduced from 324 games to 194.which would mean an immediate return to the diamonds, however the remaining 50 games would be reset to the start of the 2023 season. This situation gave the Dodgers 14 days to decide the pitcher’s future and they finally took the said measure.
“The Dodgers organization believes that allegations of sexual harassment or domestic violence should be fully investigated with due process for the accused. We have been fully cooperating with the Major League Baseball investigation since the beginning and have strictly followed the process outlined in MLB’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.”, the Dodgers said in a statement posted on their social media.
“Two exhaustive reviews of all available evidence in this case, one by Commissioner Manfred and one by a neutral arbitrator, concluded that Mr. Bauer’s actions justify the longest active suspension in our sport for violating this policy. Now that this process has been completed and after careful consideration, we have decided that you will no longer be part of our organization.”, the message says.
