Joan Laporta makes Barcelona a victim and accuses Real Madrid of “cynicism” in the Negreira case.

Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, spoke exclusively about the Negreira case at a press conference for the first time, where Barcelona have been under investigation for alleged payments to a refereeing committee member for almost 20 years.

Laporta accused Real Madrid of “unprecedented cynicism” and called the position of La Liga President Javier Tebas “irresponsible” that is not good for the competition.

“The fact that this club (Real Madrid) came out with a statement that in the best period for Barcelona, it feels affected by the sport, seems to me a manifestation of cynicism. unprecedented,” said Laporta, who believes that the white club has historically “winn” in arbitration proceedings.

Thus, the president of Barça acknowledged that relations with the white club were “institutionally affected”, as he pointed out, by the “belligerent” reaction of its leaders.

“I was under pressure from the social mass of Real Madrid, I can understand this, but I cannot accept or express my opinion on this matter,” Laporta responded when asked about his relationship with Florentino Pérez, whom he has spoken to in recent weeks.

Similarly, Laporta criticized the public performances of Javier Tebas, as information was released last February regarding the €7.3 million Barcelona paid to Enriques Negreira between 2001 and 2018.

“This is the most brutal attack of the organization in its entire history,” the leader of Barça stressed. who went straight to the president of La Liga to ask him to stop “this verbal incontinence” because, according to what he said, he is not doing any good for the competition he represents.

Despite an investigation launched by the highest European football body, Laporta said he would not abandon the Super League project, which the Barça club leads together with Real Madrid and Juventus.

“We are in contact with UEFA and we have opportunities for dialogue with them. although we have differences in other aspects,” he said.
