Everything is ready for twelfth season of MINI Challenge which will work from May 5 to October 29. A maximum of 22 cars will be lined up on a starting grid divided into the MINI John Cooper Works Challenge Evo and Academy categories, reserved for participants under 25 as part of the MINI program dedicated to future talent.
Both cars that will be used in the Championship are developed with the support of Promodrive and are based on the three-door model MINI John Cooper Works: EVO with 306 hp. and Lite with 231 hp. The two versions are fitted with race-specific equipment thanks to a safety kit and an aerodynamic kit that enhance safety and performance. MINI Challenge 2023 will be broadcast on ACI Sport TV.
MINI Challenge is open to ACI Sport competitors and/or conductor license holders valid for the current year in accordance with the provisions of the current legislation.
Races consist of two free practice/test sessions of 25 minutes each, two 15-minute qualifying sessions to determine the starting grid for Race 1 and Race 2, and two 25-minute races + 1 lap each. The first to be classified is the car that crosses the finish line first at the end of the single race program and after the penalties have been calculated. At the end of each race, two different classifications will be drawn up for the respective points: the MINI John Cooper Works Challenge Evo classification and the MINI John Cooper Works Challenge Academy classification.
The fourth edition of the MINI Challenge Academy for drivers under the age of 25 participating in the MINI John Cooper Works Challenge Lite category has been confirmed. The project, launched with great success in 2020, continues in collaboration with Promodrive, offering young drivers the opportunity to have a full training experience throughout the season.
MINI Challenge 2023 to be developed over six race weekendswithin the framework of the ACI Sport Italia program.
