The 2023 Imola and Emilia Romagna Grand Prix has been cancelled.. Because flood which hit Emilia-Romagna hard and caused significant damage and several casualties, it was decided that the sixth round of the World Cup would not be played. The decision was made by the organizers together with representatives of Formula 1 and regional authorities.
It is impossible to guarantee the safety of the enthusiasts who would flock to Imola to attend the Grand Prix and the teams. In addition, at this difficult time, it would be wrong to put additional pressure on local authorities and emergency services. According to ACI President Angelo Sticchi Damiani, the GP will recover in 2026 after a contract extension.

Shortly after the announcement by the organizers of the cancellation of the Grand Prix, an official statement from Formula 1 arrived, expressing closeness to the flood-affected community.
Formula 1 wants to reach out to the people and communities affected by the recent events in Emilia Romagna. We also want to pay tribute to the work of emergency services, which are doing everything possible to help those in need.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula One, also spoke about what is happening in Emilia Romagna, stating:
It is such a tragedy to see what happened in Imola and Emilia Romagna, the city and region where I grew up, and my thoughts and prayers go out to flood victims, affected families and communities. I want to express my gratitude and admiration for the wonderful emergency services who work tirelessly to help those in need and make things easier – they are heroes and all of Italy is proud of them. The decision made is the right one for everyone in the local communities and for the entire Formula 1 family as we must ensure safety and not create an unnecessary burden for the authorities as they deal with this dire situation.
