From May 19 to May 21, the Formula 1 stage was supposed to take place in Imola, Italy. However, the race, as the organizers reported on May 17, had to be postponed. And that’s because of the flood.

The competitions were going to be held at the famous circuit of Enzo and Dino Ferrari. However, in the region due to heavy rains declared a red level of weather alert. Race organizers discussed the situation with local authorities, but the races still had to be cancelled.

“The decision was made because it is not possible to hold the event safely for our fans, teams and our staff, and this is the right and responsible thing to do given the situation that cities in the region are facing. It would be wrong to put further pressure on local authorities and emergency services in it’s a difficult time” – said the organizers of the race in social networks.

It is also specified that the Formula 1 paddock and boxes were practically not affected by water, which cannot be said about the Formula 2 paddock – it was flooded almost completely. And the weather is not getting better. Because of this, it is currently impossible to check the condition of the equipment and boxes.

Note that due to the cancellation, the next race in Imola will take place only one year later, as there are no reserve slots in the calendar of the organizers.

The difficult situation with floods has developed in the north of Italy. The elements hit Venice, Ravenna and part of the Adriatic. The rains also reached the region of Emilia-Romagna.
