Toyota believe in a lot hydrogen technology. As we well know, the Japanese car manufacturer is working on both the development of fuel cell solutions and the use of hydrogen. as an alternative fuel instead of conventional gasoline. In recent months, the manufacturer has developed a series of hydrogen-powered prototypes that are running in some Japanese series to test its innovations.

After all, as you know, motorsport is an ideal “laboratory” in which you can test new solutions. And now some very interesting news. In view of 24 Hours of Le Mansat the Circuit de la Sarthe, Toyota introduced GR H2 racing concept. This is a prototype hydrogen-powered racing car. A car that was designed with the future in mind, because in 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans may include special class dedicated to hydrogen cars. Cars that can be equipped with either a fuel cell system or a “traditional” hydrogen engine.

VERY FEW DETAILS

So, with this concept, Toyota is already gearing up for the future. Unfortunately, very few details about the prototype have been provided. The GR H2 Racing Concept is 5,100mm long and 2,050mm wide, which is larger than the current top WEC model. Then the Japanese automaker limited itself to a statement that the power unit would consist of hydrogen engine plus hybrid system. No additional technical details were provided. After all, it’s too early to talk about it.

The prototype was presented Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota. Therefore, the car manufacturer seems ready to continue this project. Therefore, it will be interesting to learn more details about the car and the technologies that the automaker is developing. I can’t wait for more information to come in. The concept will be on display at the Automotive Club de l’Ouest (ACO) H2 Village on Circuit de la Sarthe until Sunday 11 June.

However, the prototype will not remain only on display. In fact, tomorrow Akio Toyoda will do a couple of laps aboard the GR H2 Racing Concept right before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
