Shohei Otani hits 30 home runs and aims for Aaron Judge’s record

Shohei Otani makes history every day. This Friday, he hit his 30th home run of the year, hitting one against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Japanese finished June with 15 home runs and over 30 strikeouts, which is unique in Major League history.

The Angels’ Japanese has 30 home runs in a season that has ended 84 regular season games. Aaron Judge, the American League home run record holder, hit 30 home runs in 84 games in 2022.

Otani will need to hit 32 more homers in his remaining 78 games to equal the New York Yankees. ANDThis weekend, the Angels will end the series against the Diamondbacks at Angel Stadium.

With 25 off-base hits, 21 walks, and 15 home runs, Otani became the first player in MLB history to have at least 25 extra-base hits, 20 walks, and 15 home runs in a single month.

Burn like pitcher and dough

Otani is the only player to hit over 30 batters in a month and also hit over 8 home runs. These are the numbers that a Japanese has when he crosses out more than 30:

June 2023 Shohei Otani: 15 (37K)

2021 June Ohtani: 13 (33K)

2023 May Otani: 8 (44K)

2022 August Ohtani: 8 (31K)

Except, These are the incredible numbers that Otani left in the month of June, in which he is likely to win as Player of the Month.

The Japanese finished with 15 home runs, 4 stolen bases, 1.444 OPS, .394 batting average, .492 OBP, 29 RBI and 4 stolen bases.

The Japanese slugger also tied Sammy Sosa as the only slugger to hit 30 home runs and 10 stolen bases through July. His home run against the Diamondbacks this Friday was the longest at Angels Stadium since 2015 from 493 feet.
