Isaac Paredes joined Vinny Castilla in setting a record for a Mexican in the major leagues.

Isaac Paredes is having one of his best seasons in the major leagues, and this Sunday he joined Vinny Castilla on the list of Mexicans with the most home runs in a season.

Paredes hit his 30th home run of the season in a 9–5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.. The Hermosillo-born third baseman is the second hitter from Mexico to hit 30 or more home runs.

Vinny Castilla hit 30 or more home runs in six seasons. Castilla holds the record for most home runs in a campaign by a Mexican with 46 and all-time with 320.

Isaac Paredes, 24, is in his fourth season in the Majors and has established himself with the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Mexican has 30 home runs, 95 runs scored, and 118 hits. 23 doubles and .844 OPS. All these indicators are personal bests for one season in his career.

With its four seasonsParedes is seventh among Mexicans with the most home runs in the major leagues. with 52. To reach the next place, he must surpass Karim Garcia with 66.

Only three Mexican sluggers have hit 100 or more home runs in the majors: Aurelio Rodriguez (124), Jorge Orta (130) and Vinny Castilla (320).

The Rays’ third baseman leads active players in home runs. Paredes is followed by Luis Urias (48), Alejandro Kirk (30) and Joey Meneses (26).

With one week left in the regular season, Paredes will be able to break his personal best and try to reach 100 RBIs for the season.

Vinicio Castilla is the only player from Mexico to reach 100 RBIs in a season. The former Colorado Rockies player did it in five seasons, and his record was 144.

Isaac Paredes and the Tampa Bay Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays lost to the Toronto Blue Jays even though they are confident they can make the playoffs.
