Olympic Games winners will be paid 500 thousand for skipping international competitions

The winners of the Olympic Games will receive 500 thousand rubles as compensation for missing international competitions. Payments will be made through the Russian Olympic Committee, said ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov.

According to him, payments will first be received by athletes of summer sports. It will be possible to talk about the exact number of athletes only after the end of the calendar year.

“500 thousand rubles will be paid for gold medalists, 350 thousand rubles for silver and 250 thousand rubles for bronze medalists. 150 thousand rubles will be paid to participants in the Olympic Games.”he noted.

Pozdnyakov clarified that we are talking about athletes who are active, actively training and preparing to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris, and also refused to compete in a neutral status.

“Not all international federations have made a decision for themselves on the admission or non-admission of athletes; not all athletes, even in those sports that were admitted under the conditions of neutralization, have decided for themselves to be “neutralized”he added.

At the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be allowed to participate in any competitions. Later, on March 28, 2023, the IOC recommended allowing Russians to compete, but in a neutral status.

Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that Ukraine and 35 countries are ready to boycott the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris if athletes from Russia and Belarus compete at them.
