Audi ready for the challenge of Dakar 2024. The Audi RS Q e-tron prototype will compete for the third time in this competition, which begins on January 5, with a route entirely Saudi Arabia. As in the previous two years, Audi is relying on the Q Motorsport team, led by experienced team principal Sven Quandt.

The Dakar 2024 program is particularly complex. In fact they are waiting 12 special tests spread over 14 days.through Saudi Arabia for 4,727 kilometers. Taking into account the connecting villages, the total length of the route is 7891 kilometers. On special stages, teams will often have to cover more than 400 kilometers per day.

The program also includes 48-hour marathon stage in the Empty Quarter, the largest sand desert in the world. It will take place on January 11 and 12 and will be considered one stage in chronometric terms. Because motorcycles and ATVs will take different routes, lead crews of cars and trucks will not have to follow the tracks. It will not be possible to receive help, the participants will only be able to help each other, and at night, depending on the position achieved during the day, the crews will reach one of the eight bivouacs distributed along the route without receiving information about the position of their opponents.



To prepare for the 2024 Dakar, the House of the Four Rings has tweaked the Audi RS Q e-tron, its range extender electric prototype, which has undergone a series of tests over the past few months in preparation for the start of the race. . The new rules allowed the transmission power of the T1U class, to which Audi belongs, to be changed – increased to 271 kW (368 hp) in 2023, and from January 2024 to 286 kW (389 hp).

343 participants were registered for the 46th Dakar Rally. 72 cars will leave divided into classes T1 and T2, 42 cars of T3 category, 36 SSV (Side by Side) cars and 46 trucks, as well as 137 motorcycles and 10 ATVs.. We remind you that the cars of the 4th ring will be driven by the crews of Matthias Ekström/Emil Bergqvist, Stefan Peterhansel/Edouard Boulanger and Carlos Sainz/Lucas Cruz.
