International sport has been made hostage to political squabbles, which will have disastrous consequences. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

On the other hand, if something begins to rot somewhere, then new shoots appear elsewhere“, he said in an interview with AiF.

Peskov noted that there is hope for the efforts of Russian sports authorities to create alternative formats for international sports and federations.

According to the Kremlin representative, sport should in any case have the opportunity to develop.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Olympic Committee, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, said that the International Olympic Committee openly supports one of the parties to the political conflict and is consistently implementing the order to isolate Russian sports.
