Lola Cars will return to the motorsport arena, especially from season 11 Formula Ethanks to a multi-year technical partnership signed with Yamaha. The brand, which has more than 500 championship wins to its name, is actively working with the Japanese company to develop and supply an engine capable of competing in the world’s first all-electric single-seater competition.
This new technology collaboration will allow Lola Cars and Yamaha to take part inABB FIA Formula E World Championship (as he moves on Gen3 Evo platform for the 2024/2025 season) and will also create opportunities in motorsport both globally and in the wider zero-emission transport market.
Mark Prestondirector of motorsport division Lola Cars, said: “We are very pleased to confirm our participation in Formula E. For us, this is more than just an opportunity to return Lola to the track, it is also a fantastic platform for the development of technology. Lola Cars has a rich history of success in chassis and aerodynamic design. This project will enable us to create a unique software-focused electrified platform that will form the basis for Lola’s wider plans to shape the future of motorsport technology. The partnership is the first of several major projects planned to re-establish the UK company as a leader in clean engineering and motorsport, strategically focusing on three areas: electrification, hydrogen and clean fuels and materials.“
