FORMULA 1 FEELINGS

McLaren says he used his motorsport skills and in the creation of supercars. The result is a model capable of offering a driving experience that is close to the engagement and thrill of driving a Formula 1 car. Precisely in this regard Michael LeitersChief Executive Officer of McLaren Automotive, stressed:

The McLaren Solus GT is the epitome of McLaren’s ultimate concept car, originally built for the world of virtual racing. Designed without any restrictions of road or racing rules, but using the full range of McLaren experience to bring it to life, embodying our pioneering spirit.

The design was created around the central single cabin. Aerodynamics Attention has been paid to the details to make the car very fast through the corners.

The wheels are encased in aerodynamic shells and connected to a Formula 1-inspired suspension system. A large front splitter directs air into a ground effect tunnel before it exits the car through a diffuser. The sporty air intake above the cab, integrated into the crossbar housing behind the seat, directs cool air towards the engine, creating a very immersive sound. The single seater design also inspired the Solus GT’s side radiators. The two-piece fixed rear wing is the key to achieving more downforce than the overall weight of the car. The ratio between downforce and aerodynamic drag has also been optimized, resulting in improved straight-line performance and improved cornering performance.

This work on aerodynamics made it possible to have a load which can reach 1200kg. McLaren has also worked hard on weight and the result is a car that weighs less than 1,000kg. The engine is known to be a 5.2-liter V10 capable of develop a power of more than 840 hp. at a torque of 650 Nm. McLaren claims a top speed of 10,000 rpm. The powertrain, a first for a production McLaren, is a structural element of the chassis. The gearbox is a seven-speed sequential, borrowed from racing. Rear pull.

On the performance side, we’re talking about 2.5 seconds for a classic 0 to 100 km/h sprint. Top speed reaches 200 miles per hour, or about 321 km/h. Braking is handled by machined aluminum 6-piston monobloc calipers and carbon fiber discs and pads. The distribution between the front and rear brakes can be adjusted by the driver. Suspension steel, push type, double wishbones with adjustable anti-roll bars.

McLaren also says that a “driving experience” is available for this car, which includes a driver’s seat adapted to the shape of the body, an FIA-approved racing suit, a helmet and a HANS (Head And Neck Support) device adapted to everyone. owner and a special driver training program. The McLaren Solus GT is currently undergoing track testing as part of its development program. First of 25 customer vehicles will be delivered in 2023.
