Russia is afraid to use modern Su-57s over Ukraine – British intelligence (photo)

According to the ministry, the Kremlin is trying to prevent its reputation from being damaged and fears that destroying the Su-57 will lead to the leakage of modern technologies.

Russia is probably using its latest Su-57 fighter jets to strike Ukraine, but it only launches its attacks from its own territory, fearing the loss of modern aircraft. In its report dated January 9, informs Military intelligence of the British Ministry of Defense.

The agency assumes that the latest Su-57 warplanes have been involved in a large-scale offensive against Ukraine since at least June 2022.

Using stealth technology and hi-tech avionics, supersonic aircraft flew only over Russian territory as they launched long-range air-to-ground or air-to-air missiles. Military intelligence explains such a strategy for fear of Russia losing its latest Su-57 fighter jets in wars against Ukraine.

“In recent photos, five Su-57s are parked at Akhtuba airbase, where the 929th flight test center is located. Since this is the only known Su-57 base, these aircraft have probably participated in operations against Ukraine. It avoids the task of avoiding the damage to reputation, worsening export prospects, and compromises on stealth technologies that could result from the loss of the Su-57 fighter jet.”

It should be noted that at the end of December, information appeared in the Russian media that the latest batch of Su-57 fighters was transferred to the Russian army.

In December 2021, the board of directors of the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation announced that modern Su-57 fighters are armed with hypersonic weapons. By the end of 2028, the Kremlin expected to produce 78 aircraft, for which they wanted to create three new aviation regiments.
