Provider “Damn” showed how bombardment and power outages affected the Internet network

By the end of March, 80% of users will be provided with uninterruptible power supply.

Marian Ivasyuk, Managing Director of the damn Internet provider, showed how the functioning of the gigabit network has changed in the backdrop of Russian bombardment and massive power outages in Kiev. He posted the chart on his Facebook page.

According to the plan, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) were provided to less than 30% of Dame’s customers in October 2022, before emergency power outages began. The company installed hundreds of lithium-iron-phosphate batteries in its contact centers, providing 18 to 30 hours of operation in three months.

Currently, approximately 46% of Curse customers are provided with UPS. According to Marian Ivasyuk, in the next two weeks this figure will rise to 50%, and by the end of March it will exceed 80%. From January 25 to March 25, the company commits to installing approximately 2,000 batteries for level 1-2 access points and the same number of batteries for level 3 and higher points.

In early January, Ukrainian providers received batteries from the Ministry of Digital Transformation to keep the Internet working even when the power goes out. SBL batteries were donated by Canadian technology organization eQualitie, DEPS and the Content Rights Owners and Providers Association.

At the end of December, the provider Ukrtelecom launched a service that allows you to find out if you can get Internet at home during power outages. Indicates whether the communication node at a given address is connected to batteries or generators.

They also wrote about how to run the internet from a power bank when the power goes out. For this, it is sufficient to have a fiber optic connection, a router and a suitable cable.
