Border guards seized drones from smugglers and handed them over to Ukrainian defenders in the Kherson region. The press service of the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported the details on its official Facebook page.
At the beginning of December last year, on the outskirts of the village of Verbovets, Vinogradovsky district in the Transcarpathian region, a Mukachevo border guard detachment captured a group of smugglers who were illegally delivering cigarettes without excise duty to neighboring countries using drone-type drones. The “Fork” department, together with the operational search department of the State Border Guard Service, found at the take-off site packages containing illegal goods, three UAVs, spare batteries for them, control panels and a laptop with a flight path.
Recently, the Defense Council of the Transcarpathian Regional Military District decided to transfer the captured drones to the border guards of the Kherson detachment. Now military personnel can use them in combat, for example, for aerial reconnaissance and even to drop ammunition on the positions and equipment of the Russian Armed Forces. Judging by the images released, the drones are launched with a catapult and land using onboard parachutes.
