American manufacturer offers combat drones to Ukraine for only $1

Pending approval from the administration led by Joe Biden, General Atomics, an American arms manufacturer, has offered the Ukrainian government two Reaper MQ-9 drones worth tens of millions of dollars.

According to The Wall Street Journal, The attractiveness of the proposal is that, if accepted, the government led by Vladimir Zelensky will pay only $1 for each of the devices.

However, the agreement would imply that the Ukrainian authorities will allocate about 10,000,000 US dollars to move drones from the American Union to Western Europe. and at least another 8,000,000 dollars a year for the maintenance of these technical devices, as well as several more that are currently not able to be used to fight the Russian army.

Actually L.Inden Blue, CEO of General Atomics, has already spoken to the Ukrainian Defense Attache in Washington.where he also raised the issue of installing a ground control station to control the necessary drones and increase support for people on the front lines in order to protect sovereignty.

Without elaborating on the deals they would make with the Ukrainian government, Mark Brinkley, a spokesman for the drone maker, said technology support would soon be needed to try to deal with Vladimir Putin’s military.

“General Atomics has been discussing the needs of the Ukrainian armed forces with their government for many months and remains ready to support them in every possible way,” he said.

As a result, The Wall Street Journal reported that Over the past year, the US government has provided the Ukrainian military with about 700 tactical drones, but none of the devices were armed.

In this sense, the Reaper MQ-9 model can perform more combat missions, since in addition to greater speed and flight range, it can remain operational for up to a full day without the need for recharging energy.
