At the request of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they are already trying to establish the production of UAVs at the state level. Soon the army will receive stun, reconnaissance and kamikaze drones.
Ukrainian manufacturers can assemble almost any aircraft, if a number of problems are resolved. Maxim Subbotin, representative of the Punisher drone development team, explained the conditions in the broadcast of Channel 24.
According to the developer, Ukrainians can “deploy the production of everything”, but this requires not only initiative teams, but also state assistance. Assembling drones, in particular, requires scarce components that cannot be regularly supplied during wartime. If it is necessary to buy parts from foreign partners, it is possible to increase production.
Another important issue is the cost of production, because even the state budget is limited. According to Maxim Subbotin, the Punisher drone is one of the cheapest in its class, so the military can take more and use it more actively. Now such drones are used by 37 combat groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, each of which performs up to 500 missions per month.
“Today, we are producing enough unmanned aerial vehicles to meet the needs of the Armed Forces consisting of unit commanders. There is a centrally determined need at the General Staff level, a systematic work is being done to create the units themselves. The attack will use unmanned aerial vehicles and feed the vehicles of these units. reconnaissance drones and kamikaze drones.”
Recently, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the creation of the world’s first drone strike companies in Ukraine. Units should receive a large number of drones, including Ukrainian-made ones.
At the end of December, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received a new batch of Ukrainian-made Punisher UAVs. The drone drops up to three various types of 75 mm bombs in one flight with an accuracy of up to 4 meters. Special operations forces use it as a cheaper alternative to missiles.
Recently, military expert Mikhail Zhirokhov said why Ukraine has not yet established the production of shock drones. One of the main problems was the lack of equipment for secure communication between the drone and the operators.
