Google strikes back: they will launch their own AI chatbot in the coming weeks

Google has said it will be launching a new AI-based product in the coming weeks that it hopes will compete with ChatGPT.chatbot developed by OpenAI.

The tech giant’s announcement comes after Alphabet, its parent company, reported a significant drop in financial results in the last quarter of 2022., something unusual for the company. According to the data released by the company, profits fell by more than 33%.

“Over the coming weeks and months, we will make these language models available, starting with LaMDA, so people can interact directly with them,” said Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google.

The CEO of the company stated that Google plans to offer “responsible” AI Thus, they aim to avoid the bias issues that have been observed in other valid neural learning models. Similarly, Pichai assured that Google plans to offer a wide range of AI-incorporating products, so it will have a presence not only in its search engines, but also in developer services, companies, and Alphabet’s own operations. As part of its commitment to offer more artificial intelligence products Google intends to launch LaMDA, one of the systems the company has been working on for several years.. This is the same tool that in 2022 one of the company’s engineers assured that he managed to gain self-awareness.

This situation prompted Google to launch an investigation to determine if its employee’s claims were true or not.

As part of his comment, an employee named Blake Lemoine indicated that LaMDA asked him to hire a lawyer to defend himself against Google.which the company vehemently denied.

Some time later, Lemoine was fired after revealing confidential information to Google, which was strictly prohibited by the contract he signed when he started at the company.
