The current generation Citroen C3 Aircross was launched in 2017. Thus, the French brand is already working on a new generation which will also be offered in one 100% electric version. Talking to Autocar Laurent Barriathe automaker’s head of marketing and communications, confirmed that the upcoming C3 Aircross, like the endothermic versions, will also be offered in a battery version for the first time.
A spokesman for the French brand added that the new C3 Aircross will be the first model to feature the new Citroen logo, unveiled towards the end of 2022. For the French brand, the C3 Aircross is an important model given its good commercial success. While details about this new car are still scarce today, Citroen is expected to use CMP platform which allows the creation of both endothermic and electric vehicles.
Strictly speaking of an electric model, the automaker can use a 100kW powertrain or a newer 115kW engine that the Stellantis Group has begun using in its latest electric models. Of course, more information about the engines of the new C3 Aircross will come over the next few months as the new car is developed.
On the design front at the moment there is only some spy photos which show the upcoming C3 Aicross still heavily disguised. From what little we can see, the new model should be slightly larger than the C3 Aircross on the market today. Laurent Barriat on the new generation of this car also said that Citroen took inspiration from the Citroen Oli concept car for some of the design details.
There are no images of the interior, but the latest generation infotainment system is sure to appear. In addition, given the plans of the French brand, environmentally friendly materials will also be used more widely.
