In Russia, they found a “suitcase” against drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: why is it needed and how does it work?

It took more than a year for Roselectronics to “improve” the operation of the anti-drone system from 6 GHz to 8 GHz.

Russian company Ruselectronics has announced the introduction of a new model of the so-called “anti-drone suitcase” this year, TASS reported.

The device is called “Guard” and will be displayed at the exhibition “Army-2023”, scheduled for August 2023. Engineers claim that they managed to expand the detection range of signals from the UAV mobile countermeasure system to 8 GHz. The “Vector” Research Institute, part of “Roselectronics”, is responsible for the development of the device. Representatives of the latter said that it is already a prototype, it remains to make the final adjustments.

The previous “suitcase” model worked in the frequency range up to 6 GHz. It was announced in the summer of 2022 that the range would be increased to 8 GHz. A year later, they plan to show an improved version.

Mobile drone system “Protection”: what is known

According to TASS, the system can detect and disable a drone. Its radius of action is maximum 12 km, and its range is 360 degrees. The equipment follows the drone and suppresses the signal from the operator. In this case, the drone can sit, fall, fly back to the operator, or fly in an unknown direction.

“The system is invisible to other radar stations and is immune to radio interference, fits in several portable cases and is up and running within 30 minutes,” the Russian news agency said in a statement.

The publication also states that the mobile anti-drone system can identify an aircraft, that is, an aircraft from a helicopter, a helicopter from a drone, etc. He claims to be able to distinguish But that’s not all: the Russians boast that the “Guard” determines the location of the UAV operator (in case the drone is controlled by remote). The device cuts the connection between the UAV and the remote control in the range of 400 to 6000 MHz. Range – 2 km. Allegedly, bad weather does not affect the efficiency of the “suitcase” either.

Earlier, we reported that a fighter from the Armed Forces of Ukraine used conventional quadcopters to attack the manpower of the RF Armed Forces. The upgraded drones were able to shoot 500 Russian soldiers.
