Engineers armed an inexpensive drone with explosives that could destroy millions of dollars’ worth of military equipment.
Soldiers of the 74th separate reconnaissance battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces using a makeshift kamikaze drone destroyed a Russian tank on the front line. A Facebook video of the attack was shown by the Khortytska Varta public organization from Zaporozhye, which provides drones to the army.
The video shows how the operator, together with assistants, uses a remote control and monitor to control a drone flying over a snow-covered battlefield. Among the craters and other remnants of equipment, he noticed an inactive Russian tank, probably abandoned by an escaped crew, and decided to destroy it. He made a detour and flew to the stern of the combat vehicle, where the armor was much weaker.
Khortytska Varta NGO “Minus enemy tank! Our kamikaze drones continue to destroy enemies! Brave Ukrainian army tracked down enemy equipment and hit it with a kamikaze drone. This time they managed to overthrow the invader’s tank.”
You can see “HORT VARTA” on the screen, it indicates that the kamikaze drone was delivered by Ukrainian volunteers from Zaporozhye. Earlier, they wrote that Khortytska Varta purchased cheap shock UAVs for the army, worth about $ 400, carrying up to 1 kg of explosives and even capable of hitting tanks. According to volunteers, the devices are well protected from electronic warfare and allow operators to capture video from cameras until the moment of collision. Additionally, drones are highly sensitive.
On February 17, a video was released showing how a Ukrainian kamikaze drone crashed into a Russian tank on the territory of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. The invaders hid it in a tunnel next to the dam and covered it with wooden panels. APU operators blew up one drone to clear the way, and the second shot down the combat vehicle itself.
They also wrote about how a soldier from the RF Armed Forces exploded and hit a kamikaze drone with a stick. He was probably trying to pick up a drone that accidentally got stuck in a tree.
