Stop endothermia: Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo, criticizes skeptical EU countries March 15, 2023 0

In recent days, we have talked a lot about the contradictions at the European level on stop selling new diesel locomotives from 2035. As you know, the vote in the EU Council was postponed to a later date due to the position of some countries, including Italy and Germany. While the EU countries continue to discuss and negotiate to find a solution to this delicate issue Jim Rowan, CEO of Volvo, is also getting involved.which points the finger at precisely those countries that are trying to block the process of approving the endothermic fuel use in 2035.

DEVELOPMENTAL ANXIETY AND FRUIT

Volvo number one recalls that last year the EU governments and the European Parliament “reached a historic agreement to achieve zero vehicle emissions by 2035.“. A goal that, in fact, leads to the cessation of the sale of new endothermic models. According to Jim Rowan, the agreement demonstrates the ability of the European Union to take a leadership role at a critical moment for the planet and humanity.

Then the manager expresses great concern and disappointment for what is happening now.

Parliament confirmed this agreement on 14 February. Member States were to do the same in early March. However, now some of them are trying to disrupt the process. This is a very disturbing and disappointing development.

Volvo number one then addresses the “skeptical” countries, emphasizing that now is not the time to back down, putting the national interest ahead of the health and well-being of the planet and citizens.

Now is not the time to back down and block science-based climate targets for our industry. Now is not the time to put national political interests ahead of the health and well-being of our planet and the citizens of the European Union, and indeed of future generations. The time has come for strong, determined and progressive politics and leadership.

Finally, the manager reaffirms Volvo’s goal of becoming an all-electric brand by 2030.

Volvo aims to be a fully electric car company by 2030 and climate neutral by 2040. We recognize our responsibility to help protect the planet. We ask the governments of the European Union to show that they do too.
