HOW IT WORKS?

The system monitors road markings, speed limits and traffic conditions in real time. manage steering, acceleration, braking and positioning within the lane, as well as maintain a constant distance from the vehicle in front, up to a complete stop in the event of a traffic jam. This system operates at a maximum speed of 130 km/h and uses a combination of radar and cameras to detect and track the position and speed of other vehicles on the road. In particular, the front camera recognizes lane markings and speed limit signs.


As mentioned at the beginning, you still have to pay attention to the road to be able to intervene in case of problems. In fact, the inner camera facing the driver ensures that he always keeps an eye on the road. If the system detects that the driver is distracted, the instrument panel displays warning messages followed by audible warnings: at this point, the system applies the brakes until the vehicle slows down while maintaining full steering control. Similar actions are taken if the driver does not place their hands back on the steering wheel when prompted as soon as you leave a BlueCruise compatible road.

To use BlueCruise, you will need a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E. This feature is free to use for 90 days. Next you need pay a monthly subscription of £17.99 (€20.34).

The automaker recalls that BlueCruise was developed thanks to 1.1 million km of road tests (US, Canada and Europe). The goal now, in addition to further expanding the use of BlueCruise on UK motorways, is to roll it out to other European countries as soon as regulations allow.

Ford also said it is exploring the possibility of providing BlueCruise through a future Ford Power-Up software update for Mustang Mach-E models built through 2023 that are equipped with the Tech Pack or Tech Pack+.
