New BMW XM high-performance plug-in SUV from 653 hp or even 748 hp in a more productive version of Label Red. This flagship model was unveiled in 2022 among the models unveiled by the German brand to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the M division. Made from scratch (the XM is not a derivative of any model that is already on sale), this plug-in SUV is also the first original BMW M since the BMW M1.

The SUV is manufactured at the BMW Group plant in Spartanburg, USA. In Italy it can be ordered at a starting price 181 500 euros.
Appearance especially imposing and aggressive with rather sharp lines. The front part is characterized by the presence of headlights divided into two separate blocks, a radiator grille with gold contours and continuous contour lighting and large air intakes. Behind, on the contrary, hexagonal exhausts arranged vertically stand out.
The BMW XM can also count on 21″ M light alloy wheels. Optionally, 22″ and 23″ wheels can be fitted. SUV measures Length 5100 mm, width 2005 mm, height 1755 mm, wheelbase 3105 mm. Trunk volume increases to 527 liters, but this can be increased to 1820 liters by folding down the rear seats. As for the interior, BMW has divided it into two zones. Forward, the cab has been designed to be comfortable for the driver. Behind, however, the interiors have been designed to offer luxury and comfort.
Up front we find M multifunctional seats, knee pads and a unique M leather steering wheel, as well as M-specific graphics and a BMW head-up display. Speaking of tech, we have a large curved bezel that houses a 12.3-inch instrument display and a 14.9-inch iDrive 8 platform infotainment display.
However, behind the BMW XM offers an exclusive M Lounge.
Heated seatbacks that extend to the sides of the rear compartment and specially designed cushions provide passengers with a high level of comfort. The sculptural headliner is unique with its 3D prismatic structure, photographic-style edging, and 100 LED lighting fixtures. You can choose from four upholstery options to personalize the interior, as well as new Vintage leather for the dash tops and door panels. Ambient lighting, four-zone automatic climate control, a Harman Kardon surround sound system and a Travel & Comfort system are standard, while the options list includes a 1500-amp Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system and four additional speakers in the roof area.
The beating heart of the new BMW XM is the powertrain, which consists of a 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine coupled with an electric motor. The endothermic unit develops a power of 360 kW / 489 hp. with a torque of 650 Nm and an electric unit with 145 kW/197 hp. with a torque of 280 Nm. In general, you can rely on an SUV. 480 kW/653 hp with torque 800 Nm.
The powertrain is mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. All-wheel drive M xDrive which has a new 4WD Sand mode for driving on sandy surfaces. Speaking of performance, it takes 4.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. There maximum speed 250 km/h, with electronic limitation. With the optional M Driver’s Package, top speed is increased to 270 km/h.
The power plant is powered by one Battery 29.5 kWh (used 25.7 kWh) which can be charged with AC up to a maximum power of 7.4 kW. In electric-only mode, you can drive 82-84 km and reach a top speed of 140 km/h.
The driver can choose between HYBRID, ELECTRIC and eCONTROL driving modes. There is also a “Settings” button that provides direct access to configuration settings for the traction system, chassis, steering, braking system, M xDrive and the level of energy recovery when braking. BMW has also worked hard on tuning to offer top-level driving behavior.
We find a double-link front axle and a five-link rear axle with specially designed kinematic and elasto-kinematic properties. The BMW XM comes standard with the adaptive M Professional suspension, which includes electronically controlled dampers and active roll stabilization with 48V electric motors and Active Roll Control. The XM is also the first BMW M model to feature integrated Active Steering as standard.
Talking about safetystandard equipment includes driving assistantwith Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Assist with Steering Assist, Evasion Assist, Warning System and Speed Limit Information System. The optional Driving Assistant Professional combines Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go and a range of other features, including Steering and Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Light Recognition, Automatic Speed Limit Assist and Active Navigation. Parking Assistant Plus is also standard.
Compared to the BMW XM, the XM Label Led version can be recognized by the presence of some special aesthetic details. The SUV comes standard with 21-inch alloy wheels.
Under the hood is a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine capable of delivering 430 kW/585 hp. with a torque of 785 Nm, in combination with an electric unit with a power output of 145 kW/197 hp. with a torque of 280 Nm. Generally available there is 550 kW / 748 hp with 1000 Nm of torque.
The BMW XM Label Red accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h but increases to 290 km/h with the optional M Driver Package.
