This drone can move through the air quickly and efficiently, as well as take off and land vertically.
Morpho Aerospace experts from New Atlas, Italy decided to combine the advantages of VTOL and the speed of fixed-wing drones in one device. Quadcopters are slow but take off from anywhere, while fixed-wing drones are very fast but need space to accelerate.
The Morpho UAV has four horizontal propellers that allow it to take off and land vertically and hover. However, unlike conventional quadcopters, it does not tilt its body forward to move horizontally. Instead, it uses two additional vertical propellers at the rear to propel it forward. This allows the drone to reduce its frontal area as it moves through the air.
If the owner wants to make it even faster, he can order the drone to retract its undercarriage and hide its four propellers inside the fuselage like folding blades. The Morpho was then propelled by only two rear propellers, maintaining lift from its wings. This allows the drone to fly longer distances using less battery power and keep up with fast moving objects with a top speed of 134 km/h in this mode.
On the other hand, if users know that they will only use the drone for slow flight, they can make their job easier by temporarily removing the wings and tail. Flight time varies between 24 minutes. Up to 40 minutes in quadcopter mode. when flying on a fixed wing.
The drone is also equipped with removable nose cones, one of which allows it to carry the camera. The other cone includes Morpho Aerospace’s own gimbal camera capable of capturing 4K/30fps video. Also, the camera can be flipped upwards as it is mounted directly on the nose – which is impossible to do on a quadcopter.
Morpho is controlled by a remote control, from which you can optionally remove the GPS module and carry it with you. The drone will then automatically follow its owner. In this mode, the drone can be controlled using voice commands.
Morpho Aerospace has launched a Kickstarter fundraiser. The target is $113,000 and the minimum contribution to buy a drone is $1,360. Morpho deliveries are expected to begin in October this year.
Previously Focus He wrote that there is wireless charging for drones, but the drone does not even need to be placed on it.
