The first solar-powered base communication station appeared in Ukraine (photo)

Thanks to the solar panels, the device will communicate with the Ukrainians even in case of power cuts.

A non-volatile base station was installed in the Odessa region. Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Fedorov said that the device can work during blackouts.

According to the official, the base station was installed by mobile operator lifecell. They are powered by 7 solar panels and accumulate energy around the clock.

“This way, thousands of Ukrainians are in touch even when there is no electricity,” Fedorov said.

The base station is currently in test mode. Engineers constantly monitor its functioning. According to them, the connection is uninterrupted and of excellent quality.

Mikhail Fedorov said that Ukrainian experts from the telecommunications industry are already preparing for the autumn-winter period. So, it is known that more than 90% of base stations receive batteries, about 10% – generators (total BC – 34 thousand).

“Operators are replacing lead batteries with lithium batteries so that communication lasts longer in the absence of light,” Fedorov added.

Earlier we reported that, thanks to the constellation of early warning satellites, it was possible to determine the exact time of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. In addition, satellite images make it possible to estimate the strength of the explosion – these data will be very useful for experts who will study this explosion.
