Android robot EveR 6 conducted the South Korean national orchestra for the first time in the country. This was reported by Reuters.
The two-armed robot with a human face debuted at the Korean National Theater on June 30. On the eve of the performance, he first bowed before the audience, then began to lead the musicians of the national orchestra.
Choi Soo-yul, a true conductor, commented on the event. He admitted that he expected the worst, but the technique showed an excellent result.
“The conductor’s movements are very detailed,” Choi Soo-yul said.

Listener Lee Young-Joo, who read traditional Korean music, said that the robot’s movements showed a perfect rhythm, but it was “not breathing”. According to him, technology has not yet succeeded in providing the collective and instantaneous interaction of the orchestra.

EveR 6, unlike ChatGPT, is a robot that performs programmed movements and does not generate information. Designed by the KITECH institute last year, it is about 180 centimeters tall and has flexible arms. The purpose of this rehearsal is to answer questions amid growing concerns that the latest technology could challenge jobs that were thought only for humans.
Lee Dong-wook, who is responsible for the development of KITECH, said that EverR 6 is not a productive AI like ChatGPT. The technology is programmed with “motion capture” technology to digitally record the trajectory of the baton using sensors.”
