“The steering wheel broke in a minute”: a new killer whale attack on a yacht in Portugal (video)

The frightened captain of a nine-foot boat managed to send a distress signal. The yacht was pursued by a herd of five killer whales, but only two attacked.

Veteran yachtsman Pep Philoseros said he was chased by a pack of five killer whales while sailing off the coast of Cape Vincent, Portugal for the port of Royan, France. Reported by The Mirror.

A sailor fears for his life after a large killer whale blows the helm of his boat. Ultimately, Philoseros had to give a distress signal.

According to the victim, a swarm of five killer whales attacked his boat last Monday, August 7th. He also managed to videotape wild sea animals.

In the released images you can see how the killer whales attacked and how the rudder of the boat was destroyed in “one minute”.

According to the 70-year-old man’s testimony, he also heard the hull of the boat crackle, but did not notice that the water was starting to fill the hull.

The French sailed 400 meters to the headland with a depth of 25 meters. A rescue boat arrived 15 minutes after the incident, but even then the attack did not stop. The killer whale attack continued for another half hour, even as the Oxygene retreated to shore.

Philoseros said he was aware of killer whale activity in the area, so he pre-checked the app, which lists recently spotted killer whales.

“After leaving Lagos and before arriving at Cape St. Vincent, I stopped in Sagres to check the latest news. I was on my way as no killer whales were seen that day, but unfortunately I was not lucky,” the man explained.

Many sailors use acoustic devices or fireworks to scare off killer whales.

But the French said it was too fast and there wasn’t even time to turn on the scare device or set off the fireworks.

He tried to turn off the engine or back up to keep the animals from attacking, but neither worked.

“The rudder broke and disintegrated in a minute. They also struck the twin keel of the boat. There were five killer whales in total, but only two attacked the boat. I think these were young killer whales,” the navigator said. .

He also added that the animals are about six to seven meters long.

“If the killer whales really wanted to sink the boat, they could easily have done it. I don’t think that was their goal,” he explained.

Recall that Atlantic killer whales collectively teach their young to attack boats.

Melting ice in the Arctic was also reported to have provoked a submarine war. Killer whales are winning so far, but beluga whales are in danger of dying.
