“Why exactly is it there? I looked at old maps and on the 1802 plan there was a farmhouse called Ivanovka in the middle of the fields, exactly where the wreck was found,” said Igor Ignatenko. .

Near the same site, archaeologists also unearthed a human skull and several pottery sherds dating back to the 10th century. These artifacts come from a mound excavated in the 19th or 20th century. This finding shows that there were important places and interesting events in the region in the past.

“This find is not accidental; even in the 1950s, the remains of pagan burial mounds were present in this area, known as the ‘Old Cemetery in Berezki’, twelve of which were excavated by the archaeologist David Bliefeld in 1952. The scientist observed that in front of the room where they apparently laid a boyar He adds that two horse skeletons were found stripped, and on one of them was the skeleton of a “rider”.
