A couple of days ago, Stellantis shared some predictions about the future of the Melfi plant, announcing that 5 new models from the DS, Jeep, Lancia and Opel brands would be on the way. As stated, the first to be produced will be: electric model DS. Now the French car manufacturer would like to announce a few more small details.
A 100% electric version of the DS 4 will arrive in 2024. However, it will not be a battery-powered variant of the current model. In fact, the new car will have a new design and, above all, will be based on new STLA Medium platform. The new DS4 will have a battery capacity of up to 98 kWh and will be able to offer range over 700 km according to the WLTP cycle. This model is being finalized in France and will be produced starting in the last quarter of 2024 at the Melfi plant in Italy.
Another electric model DS will be built at this plant in 2025, again on the STLA Medium platform, about which, however, there is no precise information yet.
These new models are included in electrification strategy French brand. In fact, as of 2019, the entire range is fully electrified. With the all-electric DS 3 E-TENSE together with the DS 4 E-TENSE, DS 7 E-TENSE and the plug-in hybrid DS 7 E-TENSE and DS 9 E-TENSE with outputs ranging from 225 to 360 horsepower, all DS models are offered with electrified powertrains , which will account for almost 50% of sales in Europe in the first half of 2023.
