In Ukraine, it is aimed to launch “smart mobilization”, which will allow the person in charge of military service to independently choose the specialty in which to act. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“We want to start the so-called “smart mobilization”, when a person independently – it is not even about mobilization, the person chooses for himself – chooses the expertise he wants to mobilize, not under pressure, but on his own. So the person decided that he wants to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” said Mikhail Fedorov.
According to him, pilot will be used for drone operators, people will be able to choose whether they want to become UAV operators or even serve in an attack aircraft company. In particular, these can be hunters, drivers and others. As a result, the person will be able to see what type of unit or company it is, what liabilities and risks are involved, and how the training will take place. He noted that the person who left the application, passed the recruiters and tests, and received training definitely fell into an attack aircraft squadron for the position for which he was mobilized.

Mikhail Fedorov noted that after the launch, it will be possible to understand how many people will take action on their own, how they will be selected, how they will serve, what the quality of their services will be, how motivated they will be.
“This could be the first pilot step, the first step to launch such a conditional ‘smart mobilization’,” he said.
He noted that there are people who might want to be Stormtroopers or other positions. But they want to understand that they will be led by a professional in the trenches, there will be drones above them, there will be armored vehicles nearby, the leader will care about their lives and have quality situational awareness.
Fedorov believes that all changes will be included in the pilot. You do not need to specifically go to the military registration and enlistment office, you just need to take an online exam, come to the draftsman’s building, where they will once again explain where you can serve.
“After that, if you meet the specifications, you go into training where you have a different level of training where not only are you taught the basics, but you have professional experts from the battlefield controlling drones who tell you what situational awareness is. . . and after that you already find yourself on the battlefield,” Fedorov said.
He believes that in this case a different quality of motivation will emerge, but this hypothesis needs to be tested first. Mikhail Fedorov added that it is a matter of a month or two maximum.
