Test strips for various types of glucometers used by patients with diabetes to measure blood sugar levels have been included in the reimbursement program since October 8 this year; This meant reimbursement of the cost of medicines and medical products. “This is just the beginning, though. The reimbursement program is being gradually expanded so that the maximum number of patients can receive government support,” the official added.

According to Karchevich, about 1 million people in Ukraine have diabetes and more than 150 thousand of them are insulin dependent.
“They all need to measure the sugar level regularly – accordingly, to control the intake of medications, that is, the person needs to measure the blood sugar level several times a day, every day. This is an additional value of about 1 thousand hryvnias per month that the patient spends to purchase these test strips amount,” the Deputy Minister points out.
Now type 1 diabetic patients can get it from the pharmacy for free or for an additional fee.
How to get test strips under the refund program?

The list of test strips subject to reimbursement includes: 23 products from different manufacturers,” emphasizes the deputy minister.
