Lamborghini completes tests new Urus plugin. Model PHEV will debut in 2024 and, as the car manufacturer’s CEO Stefan Winkelmann has well emphasized, endothermic versions will no longer be sold. This means that buyers will only be able to purchase the SUV with the new plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The new Urus PHEV forklift was caught on the road during a test session on German roads and at the Nürburgring. The car, of course, is still camouflaged, and there are films on the body that hide the details of the new design. Indeed, in addition to introducing a new engine, Lamborghini Urus will also receive aesthetic update. There are no radical changes, just a number of tweaks designed to freshen up the appearance of the SUV.
Judging by what we see from spy photo, the front bumper has been slightly redesigned and the headlights have also been redesigned. Small changes are also expected at the rear. The cabin is not visible in the new spy photos. However, the launch of the Plug-in model should bring new trims and, above all, an updated infotainment system.
Regarding the power unit, we will find twin-turbo V8 combined with electric motor. Lamborghini didn’t want to reveal specific details, but the unit should be close to the one found in the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid. This German model is capable of offering a total of 544 kW (739 hp) and a maximum torque of 950 Nm. More power is expected for the Lamborghini model. We are talking about more than 800 hp.
All that remains is to wait for news about the presentation of the new model. Either way, Lamborghini isn’t just working on a plug-in version of the Urus. In fact, the car manufacturer is also continuing to test the successor to the Huracan, which will always have a PHEV unit. A sports car that will debut next year.
