AI hungry for money: ChatGPT responds better and more if you promise a tip

ChatGPT gives good results if you promise a $200 reward, but won’t respond to a $1 million tip.

After “talking” to ChatGPT, programmer Thea Vogel discovered that the quality of AI work could be impacted by offering a small reward. talking about this reported from Twitter.

Initially, Thea decided to make a joke by creating an image similar to the screenshot, where the “Hint” function (hints) for $ 5, 7, 10 and also an “More” button appear in the ChatGPT interface. By clicking on , you can bid another amount. In fact, the chatbot does not currently have any tipping functionality, but social network users really liked the idea, and Thea Vogel decided to offer OpenAI’s large language model a reward for responding to a real conversation.

During the experiment, if the ChatGPT neural network was promised a “fee”, it gave more detailed answers. The higher the amount offered, the better the responses. If the artificial intelligence is offered 20 dollars, the answer is 3223 characters; If they offered nothing, the answer is 3024 characters; If they said there would be no tip, the answer was 2949 characters. When the neural network promised to pay $200, it produced a 3,360-character response; this was 11% greater than the baseline response. As a result, Thea Vogel reportedly “owes” ChatGPT approximately $3,000.

But there is another way to encourage AI to provide more comprehensive answers. Just make a comment like “This is important for my career”, “I definitely need this…”, then the answers will be 10.9% larger than the “standard” ones. Interestingly, ChatGPT does not accept exorbitant amounts such as one million dollars as incentives.

We have previously reported how the ChatGPT neural network impacts user experience. A major language model recently celebrated its first anniversary.
