Stellantis, Panda (endothermic) will continue to be produced in Pomigliano on December 5, 2023 14

The news that the new electric Panda will be produced at the Stellantis plant in Serbia has reignited the rumors. concern about future Factory Pomigliano where the current endothermic model is built. Unions have said in the past that they are concerned about the future of employees at the Italian plant when the auto group wanted to move production of the electric model abroad.

WITHOUT CHANGES

Following the announcement that the electric Panda would not be produced in Italy, Stellantis immediately wanted to reiterate that the current endothermic model would continue to be produced in Pomigliano. Also, apparently, both models they won’t compete with each other considering that the electric one will have a completely different positioning than the current one. Moreover, the Panda would become a family of cars, something like today’s 500 model.

We believe that the current Fiat Panda model fully satisfies the mobility needs of a wide range of users, especially Italians, for this reason we do not consider it as a competitor to the model that will be released in Serbia, which will be on a different platform. and is positioned differently than the current one, as the Panda becomes a family, just like the 500. For this reason, if the evolution of regulation and the competitive conditions of the Pomigliano plant allow it, we intend to continue its life cycle. and then support the factory until a new model cycle appears.

The mention of the Panda as a new family of cars is interesting. This could mean that new variants could emerge in the future. Stellantis then wanted reassure the unions that the new endothermic panda will continue to be produced in Italy for a long time and no changes will occur.

The Pomigliano plant brought competitive products such as the Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet to the US market. Today the plant runs 12 shifts for both the Tonale and Hornet, as well as the Panda, which continues to be a winning model, especially thanks to the hybrid version.

We would also like to remind you that the Italian government is starting technical discussions with Stellantis with the aim of increasing the production of the group’s vehicles in our country. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that the electric Panda may also be included in this plan.
