Hacker attack on Kyivstar: It was said whether there was a leak of personal data of Ukrainians in the UK

The cyber attack left Kyivstar users without a mobile signal and the ability to use the internet. Intelligence officials said the air raid signal also disrupted the functioning of some banks, ATMs and trading terminals.

On December 12, there was a cyber attack on mobile operator Kyivstar. There was not a single personal data leak during the attack. In this respect reported About X (Twitter) at the UK Ministry of Defence.

The defense ministry noted that the consequences of the cyber attack lasted at least 48 hours. As a result, mobile services and Internet operations were affected.

Kyivstar provides mobile and home Internet services to more than half of Ukraine’s population. The cyber attack left users without mobile signal and the ability to use the internet, the report said.

According to the mobile operator, no personal data of users was hacked at this time. However, the cyber attack disrupted the operation of the air raid signal, some banks, ATMs and point-of-sale terminals. In addition, Monobank was exposed to a DDoS attack, which caused problems in accessing the site.

British intelligence believes this could be one of the largest cyberattacks on Ukrainian networks since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

Let us remind you that the head of the Kyivstar company, Alexander Komarov, said on December 14 that it would take several weeks to fully restore the operation of all services. But by the end of the week, Kyivstar will likely be able to restore mobile internet, SMS messaging and voicemail.

On the same day, Egor Aushev, co-founder of Cyber Unit Technologies, called on users of the Kyivstar mobile operator to change their passwords. According to him, a hacker attack on a company can affect every citizen.
