There are more and more robots: Ukrainian Armed Forces reveal how “ShabLynx” attacks invaders (video)

Remote weapons allow the Ukrainian military to attack without exposing themselves to enemy fire. Technology saves lives and motivates people to go to the front.

The Ukrainian army is using a new domestic technological invention at the front – a remote-controlled fire weapon that has received the unofficial name “ShabLynx”. Senior lieutenant, platoon commander of the first separate battalion “Da Vinci Wolves” Alexander Yabchanka spoke about the functioning of the equipment in an interview with “1+1”.

First, the military man talked about the design of the device. It consists of two parts: the upper part is “ShaBlya”, a remotely controlled turret.

“A very simple story: there is a machine gun, behind which a machine gunner stands and fires at the enemy. What ShaBlya gives is the opportunity to hide the machine gunner in a safer place, for example, in a shelter. And if the machine gun is in a trench, the enemy is trying to suppress the firing point And it’s one thing if he destroys our warrior, it’s another thing if he destroys a piece of iron,” Alexander Yabchanka explained.

The bottom part is a Lynx platform with remote control wheels. If you install the ShaBlu on the Lynx, you get an effective weapon with which the fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can move for a distance of about a kilometer, remaining in cover. According to the commander, such equipment can shoot more accurately than a machine gunner because it is equipped with an optical sight.

“The second story is mobility. Of course, ShabLynx cannot gallop through the trenches, but after all, this is not his task, because there are machine gunners for that,” said the military man.

As Alexander Yabchanka noted in a conversation with TV channel journalists, the price of ShabRys depends on the configuration and modifications. So the last modification his army bought cost 25 thousand dollars. The cost of a large platform with weapons of different calibers is already about 40 thousand dollars.

Talking about the practical benefits of this technique, the soldier mentioned two situations. The first of these was about the evacuation of a wounded soldier, who was deliberately opened by artillery fire on the square where the enemy was located, and 11 more Ukrainian soldiers who rushed to help were injured. The platoon commander is confident that this situation could have been avoided if the Lynx evacuation platform was on the battlefield.

In addition, the “robotic machine gun” is able to dispel the myths of some people who are afraid to go to the front, citing the fact that they will be given a “rusty machine gun” on the front line. After all, the Ukrainian military is using more and more robotic equipment to save people’s lives.

What is the Lynx platform?

The Lynx robotic platform is designed to help the military transport weapons and equipment to hot spots. It delivers turrets and other equipment safely to their destination. The military operates installations remotely and delivers them to combat missions remotely. This eliminates the need for Ukrainian soldiers to personally move facilities, putting their lives at risk.

Combat module “ShaBlya”: what is known about it

“ShaBlya” are remote-controlled combat modules produced in Ukraine. The turret is operated remotely using a control panel. This allows you to fight from a distance and save the lives of defenders. The turret is designed for the 7.62 mm Kalashnikov machine gun (PKT). The firing complex was placed in place with three boxes of cartridges: 250, 450 and 600 rounds. “ShaBlya” works via remote control. It can be connected via network cable or Wi-Fi. However, TRO states that the second connection method is used as a last resort as it can help enemy forces determine the location.

The developers explained that most often the enemy launches a UAV so that the defenders will try to shoot it down. This helps Russian invaders detect the positions of the Defense Forces and protect them with MLRS. The turret allows you to shoot down drones from afar, leaving no chance for the enemy to scout. The equipment may be stationary at checkpoints, at the border or in other areas.

Let’s remember that at the end of December 2023 we wrote about how the ShaBlya unmanned tower destroyed the enemy from afar. The 7.62 mm machine gun mounted on the Lynx wheeled unmanned platform can fight both enemy infantry and armored vehicles, as well as small drones.

It should be noted that at the end of September it was learned that the Ministry of Defense allowed the use of the Ukrainian ShaBlya tower. The combat module can be permanently installed at control points or placed on robotic wheeled platforms.
